# Accessibility

## Purpose

Maintain keyboard, screen-reader, contrast, reflow, reduced-motion, theme, graph fallback, walkthrough, and print support.

## Current Accessibility Contract

- Light is the default high-contrast publication theme; a saved dark preference remains local and applies before first paint.
- Only the centered menu strip is sticky, limiting persistent viewport occupation.
- Navigation controls expose current expanded state and accurate open/close labels; Escape and outside click close transient menus.
- Interactive menu, search, theme, and walkthrough controls use visible focus and touch-safe behavior.
- Walkthroughs use native dialogs, move focus to the active step, restore focus to the launcher, support Escape and explicit exit, remain usable when storage is blocked, and do not auto-open or gate tools.
- Mobile menus and tours use dynamic-viewport limits and internal scrolling; document anchors compensate for the sticky menu.
- Reduced-motion, reduced-transparency, forced-colors, print, no-script, and offline paths remain supported.
- A sitemap-driven structural audit checks language, skip links, landmarks, H1s, IDs, ARIA references, form-control names, navigation labels, table captions and headers, image alternatives, dialogs, and focus hazards. Native assistive-technology speech output remains unverified and must not be inferred from semantic markup alone.
